The Holidays At The Mission

This year, The will be handing out 20 boxes on Friday, November 17th at 1 p.m. in the Mission to our clients we have called and determined to be the most in need.

These boxes will include a turkey or ham, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, a dessert, and more if possible.

Thanksgiving Dinner with all of the trimmings will be served from 12 pm-1 pm in the soup kitchen on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov 23rd.

The Mission will be closed on Friday, November 24th, but we will hand out snack bags with leftover turkey sandwiches in the parking lot.

We will decorate for the Lighted Christmas Parade on Saturday, Nov 25th at 2 p.m. at the Mission and participate in the parade that night.

Starting after Thanksgiving, we will be ringing bells at WalMart to solicit for the Salvation Army, which supports us with cash throughout the year with bus passes, motel rooms, gas vouchers, and other needed items.

In early December, we will have a Christmas party for local Head Start Classes to familiarize them with our services, play a few games, and get some presents from Santa Claus.

On Friday, December 22nd, at 1 p.m., We will hand out 20 Christmas Food and toy Boxes to needy families we have called if donations/funds allow.

Finally, we will serve a Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings on Monday, December 25th, from 12-1 p.m. in the soup kitchen.

How You Can Help

We need donations of holiday food items like turkeys, hams, potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, home-baked desserts, etc.

We need volunteers to cook, serve, and clean up for Thanksgiving Dinner; it will start at 9 am, and after cooking, we ask you to stay and serve and help clean up afterward which should be around 1:30 pm. Please call Cassandra at 575-388-5071 to be assigned a duty.

We will need someone to make turkey sandwiches and hand them out in the parking lot on Friday, November 24th, from 12-1 p.m.

We need cheerful volunteers to help us ring the bells for the Salvation Army.

We need some friendly elves and a Santa Claus (who also has the costume since I can't find ours) to help us with our Head Start Christmas Party, date TBA.

And with the weather turning colder, we could use some blankets/bedrolls, jackets, tents/tarps, scarves, T-shirts, and socks.

Thank you to our loving town for your continued and generous support!

Wishing you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas or any other special day you may celebrate with your loved ones during this holiday season.
