At some point, almost everyone needs a hand up in life for one reason or another — especially in our challenging economic times.
Founded in 1985, The Silver City Gospel Mission is committed to helping the hungry and homeless of Silver City, NM meet their basic needs for food, clothing, shelter, and belonging.
We recognize the inherent dignity and unique destiny of each person, and strive through our attitude of hospitality and love to meet not only the physical needs of those who come through our doors, but also their spiritual hunger for acceptance, respect, friendship and salvation. As believers in God’s love and mercy, we serve each person in the spirit of Christ's statement that “as often as you did it for one of my least brothers and sisters, you did it for me” (Matthew 25:40).
We are passionate about giving people a hand up, not just a hand out.
We are always seeking:
1. Donors and funders to help us serve to our underprivileged populations — the one thing that will help them rise out of their circumstances to lead resilient and joyful lives.
2. Volunteers who are passionate about relationships to sit with our guests at our soup kitchen table (nutritious hot meals served twice a day weekdays, year round)!
We are living in a time of society-wide inequality and with it, poverty, addiction, homelessness and loss of hope. Join us in fighting against the world’s despair by meeting it with God’s unconditional love. We’re so glad you’re here.
