As school summer break approaches, it's the perfect time for the community to come together and make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. The Silver City Gospel Mission has an urgent need for dedicated volunteers to assist with unloading our food truck on the first and last Wednesday of each month, or the 1st, 4th, and 5th Wednesdays when there are five Wednesdays in a month.
First, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the students of Calvary Christian Academy for their invaluable assistance during the school year. Your dedication and commitment have made a significant impact on our community, and we couldn't have done it without you. However, as summer break arrives, these amazing students won't be available to help, and we need your support to fill the gap.
We're looking for a regular volunteer crew that we can rely on to help unload the more than 5,000 pounds of food we receive from the Roadrunner Food Bank out of Albuquerque. This is an ideal opportunity for civic groups seeking a meaningful service project, as well as individuals who want to make a positive change in their community.
To get involved, you can simply show up at the Silver City Gospel Mission around 9:30 or 10:00 AM on the designated Wednesdays, or call us at 575-388-5071 to find out the exact arrival time of the truck. The food we receive is a vital resource for our soup kitchen and food pantry, helping us provide nourishment and hope to countless individuals and families.
