“To believe in God is to believe your life has a purpose.”

As a non-profit Christian organization, The Silver City Gospel Mission is committed to bringing Christ's abiding love to all who come to us seeking help. We do this in obedience to the Lord’s teaching to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and house those who have no home in the world. We strive to express God's redeeming grace and mercy by offering our assistance to anyone who comes to us in need, regardless of their religious beliefs, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender.

We affirm our Christian identity with the following statement of our shared faith.

We believe…

1. The living word of God is His love letter to all of humanity, from earliest Biblical times to the present. (2 Tim. 3:16-17, 2 Pet. 1:20-21)

2. In one God who loves all people as one in Him, eternally existent in the three Persons of the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son in Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:1, Matt. 28:19, Rom. 8:14-17, Eph. 4:4-6, 1 Tim. 2:5, 1 Pet. 1:2)

3. That humanity is born in sin and is in need of saving grace; it was for this reason Christ arrived to live among us. The simultaneous deity and humanity of our Lord is expressed in the following aspects of his divinity:

• His virgin birth (Luke 1:35, John 1:1-2, John 1:14)
• His life, which was lived in love without the least trace of sin (Phil. 2:5-11)
• His miracles, which included healing the lame, the blind, the sick, casting out demons, and bringing the dead back to life (Matt. 4:23)
• His atoning death for us through the blood He shed on the cross for the forgiveness and remission of our sins (Rom. 3:23-25, 2 Cor. 5:21, 1 John 2:1-2)
• His bodily resurrection from the dead (Rom. 8:34, 1 Cor. 15:3-5)
• His ascension into heaven, where He reigns with the Father (Acts 1:9-11, Heb. 1:3, Heb. 9:24)
• His anticipated return in power and glory wherein the actions of our lives will be accounted for (1 Thess. 4:16-18)

4. That salvation of the lost is rendered through holy baptism and through faith in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the redemption and renewal of the soul by the divine action of the Holy Spirit. (Eph. 1:7, Eph. 2:8-9, John 1:12, John 3:36, 2 Cor. 5:17, Titus 3:5, John 14:17)

5. In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whom Christ dwells in the heart of each member of his family, enabling them to live a godly life of obedience as they grow in faith. (John 14:17, Acts 1:8, John 16:13, John 14:26, 2 Cor. 1:21-22, Gal. 5:22-23)

6. In the resurrection of the body and the eternal life of the soul with God, and that eternal separation from God is a consequence of refusing his grace. (1 Cor. 15:20-28, Matt. 25:45-46, Rev. 20:11-15)

7. In the spiritual unity of all who believe in Christ. (Eph. 2:13-14, Eph. 4:1-6, John 17:20-23, Phil. 2:1-4)

We are grateful to Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission for this concise yet intricate wording of the Christian faith that is at the heart of our mission.

Great challenges call for great faith and hope.
Here’s what we believe.

This is the warning cry: surrender without reservation to the Lord who has called us. This is required of us so that the face of the earth may be renewed.
— Edith Stein
Take heart! First of all, it is God who sends things forward and not me.
— Giuseppina Nannini

In the beginning was the Word: and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” — John 1:1
