Homeless John And His Cup Of Joe

Yesterday, John entered the in the middle of the blowing snow and sat for his morning cup of Joe. I could tell he was freezing, and I couldn't help but be thankful for my warm bed this morning. When I asked where he'd stayed the night before, he quietly revealed that he'd spread his blanket beneath the old Gila theater awning and had just slept there.

In my younger days, I relished taunting the wild by going on snow camping trips, but I was always grateful to have a home to return to every trip. I couldn't imagine having to do it continuously.
With a firm yet gentle handshake, I gave John my best wishes for the morning and thanked my lucky stars that we'd been able to provide him with some much-needed warmth and .

We had a Board Meeting the other day, and our goal for 2023 is to get at least 50 new monthly donors who contribute at least $25 each month.

Our payroll has nearly doubled since I ran this place last time, and we are open fewer hours, but this amount would help us cover monthly payroll and utilities (which are relatively high with numerous freezers and heat to keep on).

You can set up a regular monthly donation by credit card by going to our website at silvercitygospelmission.org, clicking on the large DONATE button, and entering your info. Or you can mail your check to , PO Box 5198, Silver City, NM 88062, and you can always drop by from around 7:30-1:30 at 111 S. Texas Street in downtown Silver City behind Jalisco's Restaurant.

With your help, we can provide John and others like him with love and warmth. Thanks again for all you do, Silver City!
