We see evil in many forms every day.
Poverty, selfishness, hatred and greed. Injustice, immorality, rape and murder. And if you watch the evening news, it may seem that our world is being overrun with it.
But as Samwise Gangee says in Lord of The Rings, “There’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo… and it’s worth fighting for.”
We have taken a stand down here at the Mission to fight the evil of hunger and cold in our small town.
And Silver City has a lot of good worth fighting for.
Our downtown area. Our beautiful mountains and scenery. A wonderful climate. But most of all a friendly, loving and generous populace.
And I see these people in action every day also.
People who go out of their way to help their neighbors. People who join together to build and get things done. People who just wave howdy as you’re driving down the street.
Evil forces us to reach deep inside, to find our inner strength, climbing ever higher, until reaching a brilliant, blinding light — a light that leaves no crevice for darkness to hide.
Against that light, Evil melts in surrender, having fulfilled its purpose of being. For, in the beginning, darkness was made with a single intent: To squeeze out the inner light of the human soul. A light that knows no bounds.
Fight evil with beauty. Defy darkness with infinite light. And join the Silver City Gospel Mission team in our fight so we can protect the good in our small town.
