I’m in the middle of reading “The Promise Of A Pencil: How An Ordinary Person Can Create Extraordinary Change“, by Adam Braun.
This outstanding book goes into detail about how Braun met a young boy begging on the streets of India, who after being asked what he wanted most in the world, simply answered, “A pencil.”
This small request led to a staggering series of events that took Braun backpacking through dozens of countries before eventually leaving one of the world’s most prestigious jobs to found Pencils of Promise, the organization he started with just $25 that has since built more than 200 schools around the world.
It’s the type of inspirational reading that makes you say “hey, I can do that” and actually want to.
Sometimes it feels that I am just putting one foot in front of the other as the days slowly blend into each other without being mindful of each precious moment and embracing each person I meet.
And as my headline reads, I want to feel something STRONGLY!
I want to swim in those strong emotions that motivate us to move beyond our comfort zone and to achieve the potential that resides within us.
To seek out and connect in meaningful ways with others who share my passion.
To embrace the edge, find a way to make a difference, no matter how small and have a reason to jump out of bed in the morning ready to take on the world.
I’m passionate about helping the poor, the homeless, the orphaned and the enslaved.
If you share my passion, I’d love to have you join me in this fight.
You can volunteer at the Gospel Mission any Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 1:30 pm or on weekends between 11 am and 3 pm.
So come on down and feel something Strongly!
“The most powerful weapon on earth is the human soul on fire.”
