We do a pretty good job of providing emergency services to folks who need them. Breakfast every weekday morning, lunch every day and dinner when our cold weather men’s shelter is open.
15 articles of clothing per family member every month, 1 jacket and blanket each year (unless they are homeless and have had them lost or stolen) and 2 food boxes each month.
A full-time women and children’s transitional shelter and a cold weather men’s shelter (slated to begin Monday, Nov 30th of this year with an organizational meeting Monday, Nov 16th here at the Mission at 2 pm).
Counseling and referral services to other agencies for services we can’t provide.
But I feel that sometimes we are missing the ball on helping some of these guys move on with their lives.
Of course, the motivation to change has to be there and sometimes that isn’t the case.
But even when there is a strong desire to pull themselves out of the situation they have put themselves in, it can be a tough climb.
Luck and persistence help.
Prayer goes a long way.
But in many cases it is only the saving power of the Gospel that has any real and lasting affect.
We still need a Bible study teacher for Wednesday, Thursday or Friday if someone feels the call; pleas contract me if you are interested.
